What is Dennerle Shrimp King Active Soil?

Dennerle Shrimp King Active Soil is a 100% natural and sustainably sourced soil thats optimised for use in freshwater shrimp aquariums. Its made from fertile volcanic soil (Andosol) thats packed with nutrients and other substances plants need to grow. It also creates soft, slightly acidic water the kind that many species of freshwater shrimp love.

Dennerle Shrimp King Active Soil is particularly suitable for freshwater shrimp that thrive in low pH waters, such as Crystal Red, Red Bee, Tiger Bees, and Shadow Shrimp. As a natural ion exchanger, this soil gently lowers the pH value of your water and stabilises it in a slightly acidic range of 6.0-6.5. It also reduces carbonate hardness to approx. 0-2d KH.

How do I use Dennerle Shrimp King Active Soil?

Dennerle Shrimp King Active Soil is an active substrate that works best when added to new aquariums. It can be used as a base layer underneath a capping layer of sand/gravel, or as a standalone layer. If you choose to use it as a standalone layer, wet it slightly before you add your aquatic plants. This will increase the stickiness of the soil and make it easier to plant your aquatic plants.
