What is Dennerle Plantahunter Baikal Gravel?

The Dennerle Plantahunter Baikal Gravel is a fine, coarse shale gravel made from natural slate. The jet black colour creates a beautiful contrast and can be mixed with other gravel colours to accent the tank. This gravel can be used in aquascaping to recreate a natural underwater feel in your aquarium. The grain size of this gravel is 3-8mm.

Although both sizes can be used together to create a depth effect and improve your aquascape. You can also use this gravel with Dennerle Plantahunter Beach Gravel for greater variety.

What are the benefits of this substrate?

The gravel pieces range in size and shape and can be layered to give depth to the aquarium. The Baikal gravel is also lightfast, meaning it wont lose its dark shade with time. The larger surface area of the gravel pieces allows cleansing bacteria a place to settle, supporting a healthy tank. Fish will be comfortable with the darker shade of gravel, and will show their brightest colours.
