It is a rosette plant that is named for its large and highly unique roots, which are banana-shaped and remain partially visible above the substrate. These roots are thick because they are where the plant stores nutrients. The Banana Plant also features round leaves that range from light to dark green. It is also known by the names “Big Floating Heart” and “Banana Lily.”

The Banana Plant is known for its toughness, as it will grow in low-light setups and can flourish either fully or partially submerged. This plant can tolerate most types of water hardness and pH levels; however, it tends to do best in soft water with a pH of 6.0 to 7.2. The best temperature range for the Banana Plant is 68 to 82 F.
