Anubias barteri var. nana, simply called Anubias Nana, is well-known in the planted tank hobby ofr being one o the hardiest aquarium plants. Like other Anubias, it tolerates a wide range of conditions and adapts well to nearly all environments. Anubias plants are our top recommendation for aquascapers looking for easy aquatic plants that don’t require CO2 injection but are equally attractive as some of the more demanding species in the hobby. It has a solid reputation for being nearly impossible to kill, but will still benefit from good habits like routine tank maintenance, moderate lighting, CO2 injection and a liquid plant fertilizer.
It is an epiphytic plant, so it doesn’t need to be planted in aquasoil and can instead be attached to driftwood or tucked into open spaces within the aquascape. Be mindful not to bury the rhizome or use too much adhesive as this can cause permanent damage over time. When you’re ready to propagate, separate the rhizome (we recommend sharp aquascaping tools) and reattach as desired!
